West Timor is located on the Eastern parts of the archipelago of Indonesian. The Island is located to the North of Australia, and is part of the Nusa Tengara Island chain.

West Timor is part of Indonesia but it is unlike the rest of Indonesia in so many ways. The weather, the people, the landscape and the culture all offer a totally unique and authentic experience.

The land of Timor sometime is mocked as the rock which has little soil instead of the land which has many stones or rocks.

However, I am proud of this rocky land for its distinguished treasure of glittering stone as shown by the attached pictures.

A NIGHT IN FIDES

Today Friday January 16, 2015 the students of FIDES QUAERENS INTELECTUM Senior high school is holding event called A NIGHT IN FIDES.

A NIGHT IN FIDES is a cultural festival that performed annually and this is the second one. The festival will be opened by Pater Jose Alexander Nitsae, OFM.Conv , the school principal at around 17.30 .

This student Cultural Festival is commenced with TAKANAP, the dawanese welcome saying and then the guests ( The Parents, the leaders of the region of Timor Tengah Utara and the other distinguished visitor) are leaded by LIKURAI, a traditional drum dance to enter the venue of the festival.

For your information, during the festival, the parents and the guests are amused and entertained by students with some traditional art performances.

People might raise a question why students like us must busy ourselves by learning and exercising traditional culture and perform them to our parents. A NIGHT IN FIDES aims to revive the traditional culture and folk song of Timor and the adjacent like Rote, Sawu, Sumba, Alor and Flores. 

We are the 21^st generation is given chance by the institution of FIDES QUAERENS INTELECTUM Senior high school to learn, to exercise and to practice and to perform our ancestors’ heritage of culture, art, folklore and songs.

Therefore, A NIGHT IN FIDES is considered not only a culture festival but also a good theater that used to introduce the artistic traditional culture to the world and given young generation to learn and appreciate the precious heritage of their ancestors.

By this festival, we are expecting any support from the distinguished stakeholders of this region by giving some assist of management, finance and manpower and make a permanent art agenda and must be done continuously unless the precious heritage of our ancestors will be submerged by the wave of Globalization.
