Credit
Cards
A credit card
is an automatic money advance card. Nowadays, credit cards represent a major
element of modern life. When you use them, you can get the goods you want to
buy without paying for them yet. Credit cards are widely used as a source of
convenient credits for restaurant, hotels, and on-line television advertised
products. Using credit cards have both advantages and disadvantages , but the
consequences of credit cards misuse can be drastic and painful.
Credit cards
offer a lot of advantages if they are used properly. The major advantage is
that the credit cards eliminate the need to carry large sums of cash. If you
are away from home without cash, you can receive a cash advance or have the
option to buying traveler’s checks with a credit card. Credit cards permit
people to make a large purchase, such as buying expensive text books or
getting your car repaired. Also, credit cards can help for emergencies like
paying medical bills caused by accident. Moreover, you often get the best
rates of exchange when traveling in foreign countries if you use your credit
card for purchases. A responsible repayment of credit cards can permit card
holders to fit into middle class life and at the same time develop the
quality of spending habits.
The real
problem with credit cards is that the owed amounts must be paid back on a
regular basis. Commercial banks, indirectly, tend to induce their customers
to make excessive purchase without paying attention whether they will be able
or not to pay the debt accumulated
when purchasing with credit cards. In turn, this makes the debt
increase and finally, these card holders are unable to repay, causing
problems with their personal credit.
In conclusion,
credit cards could be considered best friends as long as they are used in a
right manner and the payments are made without getting in debt.
20. According to the writer, credit cards ……..

Nucci, Gloria Stewart, David Warner, Victory Gaber, Bill Paxton
Director : James
Camero
Running Time : 189 minutes
I absolutely love “Titanic" and love all the movies will
always hold a special place in my heart. Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) is a
somewhat ruthless treasure hunter searching for profit under the sea in the
debris of the wreck liner Titanic. He believes he is on the right track and
find a sketch of a beautiful woman wearing the diamond. The drawing is shown
on a TV news programmes and an old lady, Rose Dawson Calvert (Gloria Stewart)
comes forward claiming that she is the woman in the drawing.
When she joined
the titanic for maiden voyage Rose Dawson Calvert (Kate Winslate), as she was
17 years old. Her mother (Frances Fisher) had a good breeding but little
money, so she was taking Rose to
America to marry rich Cal Hockley (Bill Zane), a match that Rose would rather
have avoided. Attempting to have a suicide, she was saved by Jack Dawson
(Leonardo Dicaprio), a raffish and charming third class passenger. Jack and
Rose then fell in love in spite of the disapproval of both her mother and
Hockley.
Cameron’s Titanic
is justly recognized as something of a masterpiece. The film cost a
phenomenal amount to make, and most of that spending is visible on screen.
Everything about it looks sumptuous, and realistic. The romantic thread is
appealing enough, because, although the romanced is occasionally rather
overdone, Dicaprio does struggle at times to give his character.
Although the
film is a personal romance set amidst a greater disaster story, it is also
the story of Rose’s life and the effect of her experiences.

Faster planes and cheaper flight are making it easier than ever
before for people to travel. In the most ‘developed’ societies, visiting
exotic places is a sought-after status symbol. The tourism industries of both
developing countries have recognized this fact and are learning to take
advantage of it.
There are, however, some problems associated with this new
industry. Firstly, there is the increasing crime rate. Some locals see
tourists as an easy prey because, not only are they in unfamiliar territory
and therefore less able to take care of themselves, but also they carry
visible items of wealth, such as cameras and jewelery which can be disposed
of quickly for profit.
Another major problem is health. With greater mobility comes
greater danger of spreading contagious diseases around the world. One carrier
returning home could easily start an epidemic before their illness was
diagnosed. Moreover, the emergence of many diseases which resist antibiotic
is causing scientists to be increasingly concerned about this issue.
Also to be considered is the natural environment, which can be
seriously threatened by too many visitors. Australia’s Great Barrier Reef,
for example, is in danger of being destroyed by tourists and there plans to
restrict visitors to some of the more delicate coral cays.
These are just three of the reasons why any country should be
wary of committing itself to an extensive development program.
33. Why does the natural environment become one of the serious
problem associated with faster planes and cheaper flight? Because ….
A. easily start
an epidemic before their illness was diagnosed
B. it can be destroyed by too
many visitors C. the

D. they carry

34. Why is the crime rate is increasing due to the new industry?

C. The
government is planning to restrict visitors to some coral cays
D. The new industry
makes the number of unemployment increase
E. The tourists

35. “One carrier returning home could easily start an epidemic
before their illness was diagnosed”. (Paragraph 3).
The underline word means ……
A. found B. observed C. identified

A room air-conditioner is typically installed on a window, and
is built to service a single, medium size room. Air-conditioners of this type
are divided in two by a slim metal operator, such that one half projects from
the room.
The portion that is inside the room houses the evaporator and
the cooling coils. A small fan takes in air from the room, which first passes
through a filter, and is then circulated through the cooling coils. The
cooled air is finally blown into the room by the fan.
Since cool air does not hold as much moisture as warm air, some
of the water vapour in warm air condensed against the cooling coils during
intake forming water droplets. This water either drops into a pan at the
bottom of the air-conditioner or is disposed of by means of a small pipe.
The air-conditioner monitor the ambient temperature in the room
using a thermostat. When the temperature of the room reaches the same level
or drops lower than the temperature set on the thermostat, the cooling coils
are disabled, leaving only the fan in operation. Once the ambient room
temperature exceeds the set temperature on the thermostat, the cooling coils
are once again engaged.

Global warming is the measurable increase in the average
temperature of Earth atmosphere, oceans and landmasses. Scientists believe
that the Earth is currently facing a period of rapid warming brought by the
rising level of heat-trapping gasses, known as green houses gasses in the
atmosphere. Green houses gasses occurs naturally and without them, the planet
would be too cold to sustain life as we know it. With more green house gasses
around, present day human beings should be better equipped with more
information about global warming, so that they understand the causes as well
as the impact of global warming.
How does the
process of global warming work? All objects emit radiation because of their
temperature. The sun or any object at a temperature of 6000K, most of its
energy in the infrared part of the spectrum. Some gasses in the atmosphere
are called “green house gasses”. These gasses are like watervapour and
carbondioxide; transparent to visible light but absorb infrared light. When
the visible light from the sun hits the earth, it passes through atmosphere,
and warms the earth. The earth emits some of this energy back out into to the
space, keeping the planet cool. But the energy that the earth emits is in the
infrared and some of it is absorbed by the green house gasses in the
atmosphere instead of going back out into the space. When it happens, the
atmosphere gets warmer and the planet as a whole gets warmer too.

An earthquake is the shaking of the earth’s surface caused rapid
movement of the earth’s rocky outer layer. Earth quake occur when energy
stored within the Earth, usually in the form of stain rocks, suddenly
releases. The energy is transmitted to
the surface of the earth by earth quake waves.
The destruction
of an earthquake depends on its magnitude, duration, or the amount of the
shaking that occurs. A structure’s design and material used in its
construction also affect the amount of damage the structure incurs.
Earthquake vary from small, unnoticeable shaking to large shocks felt over
thousands of kilometers. Earthquake can deform the ground, making building
and other structures collapse, and create tsunamis (large sea waves). Lives
may be lost in the resulting of destruction.
Earthquakes
occur at a rate of several hundred per day around the world. A world wide
network of seismograph (machines that record movement of the earth) detects
about 1 million small earthquake per year. Very large earthquake, such as the
1964 Alaskan earthquake and 2004 tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia, which caused
millions of dollars in damage and thousand of victims, occur worldwide once
every few years. Moderate earthquakes, such as the 1989 tremor in California
USA, the 1995 tremor in Kobe, Japan, occur about 20 times a year. Moderate

Nature
VS Nurture
People wondered for a long time how their personalities and
behaviors are formed. Two distinct schools of thought on the matter have
developed. The approaches are very different from one to another. The
controversy is often referred to as nature and nurture.
Those who support the nature side of the conflict
believe that our personalities and behavior patterns are largely determined
by biological and genetic factors. That our environment has little to do with
our abilities, characteristics and behavior is central to this theory.
Proponent of
the nurture theory claim that our environment is more important than ouir
biologically based instinct in determining how we will act. They see humans
as beings whose behavior is almost completely shaped by their surroundings.
Neither of
these theories can yet fully explain human behavior. In fact, it is quite likely
that they key to our behavior lies somewhere between these two extremes.

Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday, as the defending champions strung together
back-to back Spanish league victories for the first time this season.
Madrid will
head into next weekend’s “clasico” match at Camp Nou eight point behind leading
Barcelona, but at least Jose Mourinho’s side is showing strong signs it has
recovered its dominating form from the last campaign.
Deportivo
opened through Ivan “Riki” Sanches-Rico 16 minutes in, but Ronaldo equalized
from the penalty spot in the 23rd and netted again just before
half time after Angle Di Maria had extended to lead.
Pepe added a
headed goal in the 66th before Ronaldo capped the victory with a
spot kick in the 83rd. “The most important thing about my three

career hat trick lifted him even with Barcelona’s Lione Messi with 6 goals
each through 6 rounds. Both trail Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falco by
one goal.

Madrid had been unable to reproduce the same attacking verve that had led it
to convincing victories over Manchester City in the Champion League and
Barcelona in Spanish Super Cup
But after
shaking off “Deportivo’s early goal, it quickly took care of business at
Santiago Bernabeu Stadiun on a night it could ill afford another slip up.
“We started
without a lot of energy, but we woke up after the 1-0” said Ronaldo. It was
an important win because we knew we couldn’t drop any more points.
Mourinho rested regular starters Xabi Alonso and
Alvaro Arbeloa with Madrid set to visit Ajax in champions League on
Wednesday, shifting Sergio Ramos over to take Arbelo’s place on the right of
the defense.

New robotic system can transmit sense of touch.
Asia News Network (The Yomiuri Shimbun) Thu, 07/12/2012 10:42
a.m. Sci-Tech
Japanese researchers have developed a robotic system that can convey
the sense of touch-including temperature, hardness and texture-from a robot
to human hand. The system was developed by Susumu Tachi, special professor at
Keio University, and his development staff.
The users wear
a helmet with a monitor display, a vest and gloves that can receive the
“sense of touch” of fabric and objects grasped by the robot. The vest
transmits information about the wearer’s position and posture, while the
gloves recreate the sense of touch and temperature of the object.
As the robot
has a number of sensors on its fingertips, the user can even feel the
vibration of marbles in a glass container and detect differences in the feel
of fabrics.

Speech
Production
The components
of speech system are the lungs, trachea (windpipe), larynx (organ of speech
production), pharyngeal cavity (throat), oral or buccal cavity (mouth), and
nasal cavity (nose).
In technical
discussions, the pharyngeal and oral cavities are usually grouped into one
unit referred to as the vocal tract. The vocal track begins at the output of
the larynx (vocal cord or glottis) and terminates at the input to the lips.
The nasal tack begins at the velum and end at the nostrils. When the velum (a
trap-door-like mechanism at the back of the oral cavity) is lowered, the
nasal track is acoustically coupled to the vocal tract to produce the nasal
sounds of speech.
Meanwhile, air
enters the lungs via the normal breathing mechanism. As air is expelled from
the lungs through the trachea, the tensed vocal cords within the larynx are
caused to vibrate by air flow. The airflow is chopped into quasi-periodic
pulses, which later are modulated in frequency in passing through the throat,
the oral cavity, and possibly the nasal cavity. Depending on the position of
various articulators (i.e., jaw, tongue, velum, lips and mouth), different
sound are produced.

Karamchand Gandhi was a major political and spiritual leader of India and Indian
independence movement. He was a pioneer of Satyagraha resistance to tyranny
through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon ahimsa or total
non-violence which led India to independence and inspired movement for civil
right and freedom across the world. Gandhi is commonly known in India and
across the world as Mahatma Gandhi. In India, he is officially accorded the
honor of Father of the Nation and October 2 his birthday, is commemorated each
year as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday. On June 15, 2007 the United
General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution declaring on October 2 to
be the “International Day of Non-Violence”.
As British-educated lawyer Gandhi first employed his ideas of
peaceful civil disobedience in the Indian community’s struggle for civil
rights in South Africa. Upon his return to India, he organized poor farmers
and labors to protest against oppressive taxation and widespread
discrimination. Assuming leadership of the Indian National Congress, Gandhi
let nationwide campaign for the alleviation of poverty, for the liberation of
women, for brotherhood amongst differing religions and ethnicities, for an
end untouchability and caste discrimination, and for the economic self-sufficient
of the nation, but above all for Swaraj the independence of India from
foreign domination. Gandhi famously let Indians in the disobedience of the
salt tax on the 400 kilometers (248miles) Dandi salt March in 1930, and in an
open call for the British to India in 1942, he was imprisoned for many years
on numerous occasions in both South Africa and India.
Gandhi practiced and advocated non-violence and truth, even in
the most extreme situations. As a students of Hindu Philosophy, he lived
simply, organizing an ashram that was self sufficient in its needs. Making
his own clothes, the traditional India dhoti and shawl woven with a charkha,
he lived on a simple vegetarian diet. He used rigorous fast, for long

The energy in
wind comes from the sun. When the sun shines, some of its light reaches the
earth’s surface. The earth near the equator receives more of the sun’s energy
than the North and the South poles
Some parts of
the earth absorb more solar energy than others. Some part reflect more of the
sun’s ray back into the air. Light-colored surface and water reflect more
sunlight than dark surfaces. Snow and ice reflect sunlight, too.
Some types of
land absorb more solar energy than others. Dark forests absorb sunlight while
light desert sands reflect it. Land areas usually absorb more energy than
water in lakes and oceans.
When the
earth’s surface absorbs the sun’s energy, it turns the light into heat. This
heat on the Earth’s surface warms the air above it. The air over equator gets
warmer than the surface air near the poles. The air over the desert gets
warmer than the air in the mountain.
The air over
the land usually gets warmer than the air over the water. As air warms, it
expands. The warm air over the land becomes less dense than the cooler air
and rises into the atmosphere. Cooler and denser air flows in to take its
place. This moving air is what we call wind. It is caused by the uneven
heating of Earth’s surface.
29. We know from the first paragraph that…….
A. the amount
of solar energy is not the same in every part of the earth
B. the earth’s
surface is always exposed to sun light
C. the sun’s
energy is very limited in the south pole

All sci-fi
serials require a square-jawed hero and, here, that role if filled by Jack
Sully (Sam Worthington), a crippled ex-Marine who is dispatched to a mining
colony on Pandora to participate in the Avatar program, where his
consciousness is downloaded into a lab-grown Na’vi body. The scientists who
run the program, include Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver), intend for
him to be an agent of peace, but the outpost’s military commander, Colonel
Miles Quaritch tasked (Stephen Lang), has other plans. Apparently, a Na’vi
tribal is residing on top of one of Pandora’s largest deposit of Unobtanium
and the corporation that oversees the mining efforts want them gone. Sully is
tasked with infiltrating the tribe in the guise of his alien avatar and
gaining their trust, all the while assessing their strengths and weakness for
a possible invasion.
LIKE George Lucas, Cameron is one of those writer-directors who
would benefit from passing the writing chores off to another party and yet
stubbornly continues to pen his screenplays himself. On the whole, the dialog
in Avatar is far less turgid than what moviegoers endured in the star wars
prequels, but the script still contains its fair share of clunkers. Of
course, the case could be made that cheesy dialog in another important part
of the sci-fi pulp tradition. Besides, subtlety and nuance have never been
among Cameron’s strength; whether its action, romance or comedy, he cannot
help but go big and broad. Avatar, like Titanic before it, may inspire
occasional fits of giggling and eye-rolling.
It doesn’t hurt
that Cameron remains one of the best action shooters in the business; the
film climaxes with a sustained battle sequence that last almost 40 minutes
and is truly a wonder to be hold. Scene like this one are guaranteed to hook
general audiences, but in the end perhaps only sci-fi fans will be able to
fully appreciate what Cameron has achieved with Avatar.
23. How did Jack Sully participate in the Avatar program?
A. He inspired
occasional fits of giggling and eye-rolling
B. He made a
lot of cheesy dialog in the most important part
C. He was
assessing military weaknesses for a possible invasion
D. His
consciousness is downloaded
into a lab-grown Na’vi body

wrote the dialog less more turgid
than in the star wars
B. the case
would not be made like cheesy dialog
C. the nuance
has involved Cameron’s strength
D. the script
contains fair share E. the script is very complicated

Pyramid is a
very large structure with four sides. Each side is shaped like a triangle and
the four sides merge to form a single point on top.

artist, Yoko Ono was born on February 18, 1933, in Tokyo, the eldest of three
children born to Eisuke and Isoko, a wealthy aristocratic family. In 1940, the
family moved to New York, then back to Japan 1941 when her father transfer to
Hanoi on the eve of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Ono remained in Tokyo
through World War II, including the great-fire bombing of 1945. At age of 18,
Ono moved with her parents to Scarsdale, New York. She studied at Sarah
Lawrence College, but left to elope with her first husband Toshi Ichiyago.
Settling in
Greenwich Village, she developed her interest in arts and also began writing
poetry. Considered too radical by many people, her work was not well received
but she gained recognition after working with American Jazz musician/film
producer Antony Cox, who later became her second husband. Cox financed and
helped coordinate her “interactive conceptual events” in the early 1960s.
Ono first met
John Lennon of the first English rock band ‘The Beatles’ in November 9, 1966,
when he visited a preview of her exhibition at the Indica Gallery in London. He
was taken with the positive, interactive nature of her work. He especially
cited a ladder leading up to a black canvas with a spyglass on a chain, which
revealed the word “yes” written on the ceiling. They began an affair
approximately 18 months later. Lennon divorced his first wife, Cynthia, (they
had a son Julian) and married Ono on March 20, 1969.

The air
traffic control system
How does air
traffic control actually work, and how does a plane get safety from point A to
point B? The system is a complex combination of radar, computers, and radio
transmitters. And of course is just as important.
For this reason
English has become the common language of air traffic control. All passenger
and military flying in the United States are required to present to Central
Flow Control (CFC) a proposed itinerary of exactly of how they intend to fly
from one airport to another. Although complex, the flight plan is similar to an
itinerary you might draw up for a road trip, although this one includes not
only direction, but altitude and speed as well. The amount of fuel that will be
used is calculated as accurately as possible too. The plan is then approved and
overseen by air traffic control.
Air traffic
controllers- the people you see on movies who sit in a darkened room hunched
over a computer monitor- are also responsible for maintaining a safe distance
between planes in the air. Controllers also must direct the planes that air
coming in to land to a particular point in the sky so they can land at a
specific time-these “time slots” are especially important at a busy airport
such as New York’s JFK where planes every minute or so.
The control tower
which is seen at airport is mostly just responsible for instructing the pilot
which runway to use and when to take off and land. Most aviation accidents
happen at take off or landing, so the task of guiding the plane through the
maze of taxiways and runways at the airport is just essential as guiding it
while airborne.
29. What is one of the things drawn up in the flight plane?
A. The prices of flight fare B.
The agent who sell tickets
C. The taxi
drivers in the airport D.

THE NOTEBOOK
Nicholas Sparks
Warner Books
When author
Nicholas Sparks sat down to write The Notebook, a tender love story by enduring
relationship of his wife Cathy’s grandparents, he wanted his readers to walk
away with a renewed spirit of hope.
“I’ll never
forget watching those two people flirt,” he recalls. “I meant, you don’t see
that see that very often. They’d been married 67 years, and yet they still
loved each other. I wanted to write a book about that kind of love. I wanted
people to know that unconditional love does exist.”
So Sparks created
The Notebook, the simple story of Noah Calhoun, a soft spoken North Carolina
outdoorsman who carried his love for the willowy Allie Nelson with him long
after their youthful romance had ended. He paralleled Noah’s silent passions
with Allie’s haunting thoughts-feeling she could not escape even after she
became engaged to another man. He asked his readers to consider what it might
mean if these relatively happy, middle-aged people found their destinies once
again overlapped.
He presented a
question all but universal in appeal: what would happen if two people were
given a second chance at the love of a lifetime?
Sparks deftly
answers that question. But it’s the inspiration drawn from his real life
grandparents that makes the Notebook more than just a novel of flamed
reignited. The novel opens and closes with an elderly Noah Calhoun reading
aloud from his personal journals and “notebook.” And as he shares the delicate
details, the good with the bad, its clear he is as enchanted with Allie in old
age as he was on the first day they met.
“And that’s the
legacy of The Notebook,” according to Nicholas Sparks. “When love is real, it
doesn’t matter that turns the road takes. When love is real, the joys and
possibilities are endless.”

Dear Committee for Progress,
I am afraid that the Education Bill you mentioned in your recent
e-mail fall far short of what I’d like to see in the area of education. This
and other recent legislation did not show the vision of our party nor the
change that was promised during the last election.
Consequently, I have decided to contribute only to specific
candidates whose views reflect my own. I will not be sending money to support
the party in general, i.e, where I do not have direct control over what it is
spent for.
In the future, when the party could meet its promise, I will
reconsider my position. In the meantime, I will appreciate if you remove my
name from the party contributor rolls and from the mailing list for this news
letter.
Respectfully,

The
advantages and Disadvantages of Distance Learning
A few years ago,
distance learning was seen as an inferior way but nowadays even famous and
established traditional colleges and universities are providing distance
learning courses and it is generally considered a way to improve one’s life.
However, people
still argue whether distance learning give more advantages or disadvantages.
Some of them who see the benefit of distance learning will say that distance
learning needs no commuting. Of course, it saves money and time that students
would take. Furthermore, distance learning can be done at any students’
convenience. The classes of distance learning are mostly a synchronous. It
means that students do not have to attend a lecture at a fixed particular time
and place. Students can review the assignments and do their homework during off
hours or from home. In addition, distance learning gives more accessibility. No
one can deny it. People with limited mobility may encounter the problem when
they take traditional classes. With the online class system, the problem is
solved.
Despite the many
advantages, other people will see the distance learning is costly and needs
complex technology. To attend online learning, a student must have a computer
with access to the internet. Admitted or not such technology devices are not
always available for common students another disadvantage of distance learning
is that it cannot provide immediate feedback. Unlikely, traditional class room,
students have to wait for feedback and comment until the instructor has reviewed the works and send
the response to them. Most of the time, students will study alone. Distance
learners may feel isolated or miss that social interaction that comes in a
traditional classroom.
Regarding the
individual’s learning style, some students are able to learn when there is
alive interaction between them and the available accompanying teacher while
others don’t really need it. So before deciding a choice of attending distance
learning or not, each student needs to do a fair analysis regarding the kind of
person he/she is.

Internet has been
the most outstanding invention in the history of mankind. With internet, our
earth has become a global village. Yet like many others human made technologies,
it has its own advantages and disadvantages.
There are plenty
of software that can entertain us or help us to communicate with our beloved
ones. In a mere second, we can chat for hours with a person who is sitting at
the other parts of the world, read our e-mail in our smart phone or listen to
our favorite radio broadcast by streaming it on our tablet.
With its easy
access, internet also has disadvantages. One of them is children may be exposed
to violence and explicit contents that only suitable for adults. There are
thousands of such inappropriate contents on the internet which can easily
found. It is a very serious issue and may harm children well-being.
Although,
internet can create havoc and destruction, its advantages can outweigh its disadvantages.

A. It exposes children to violence B. It helps us chat with our
beloved ones
C. It helps us

21. The main idea of paragraph 2 is……

23. From the passage we can assume that, children should be….by
their parents while they are using the internet.
A. taught B. watched C. seen D. accompanied
E. observed
Today some people
cannot leave their houses without their cellphones. For them, it’s a convenient
way to communicate. Cellular phones have
impacted society and they have left an everlasting impression on culture with
some advantages and disadvantages.
Cellphones have
become popular in the last fifteen years because they have made communication
easier. People can call each other no matter where they are. Fifteen years ago,
there was no way to call someone who had no access to a conventional telephone.
Additionally, the technology which is provided in the cellphone has made life
easier. They are not only telephones; they can also include calendars, cameras,
alarm clocks and other devices. The latest cellphones can even be used as a
pocket computer.
Nowadays, many
parents provide their children with cellphones for safety reasons. The speed
dial-up option lets people make contact with emergency number by pressing one
button. For many parents, it is a way to get in touch with their children.
Nevertheless, the
use of cellphones has also proven to be a big distraction. There were car
accidents that have occurred due to the lack of attentiveness of drivers. A
busy roaming signal may also make people frustrated. This situation can create
accidents that lead to deaths.
The possibility
of brain tumor is also increasing with the use of cellular phones. Radiation is
extremely hazardous to cellphone users. The more cellphones are used, the
greater chances of getting brain cancer. When cellphones first came out, people
purchased them in case of emergencies. Now people bring their cellphones
everywhere they go and use them for pleasure, not essentially for purpose.
Giving children
cellphones means more money to spend every month. Parents tend to spend money
to reload their SIM cards than provide good educational necessities.
As convenient as
cellphones may seem, there is more to it. People need to know more about risk
and consequences that are involved in purchasing and using a cellular phone.
20. People nowadays get benefit from cellphones because they….

communicate with others
B. have the other facilities such
as calendars, camera, calculators, etc

C. People bring their cellphones for purposeful use
D. People purchased cellphones for emergency case
E. High risk of
brain cancer is equal to high frequent use of cellphone
22. We can conclude from paragraph two that……….
A. there was no
phone at all fifteen years ago
B. cellphones
were invented fifteen years ago
C. communication of fifteen years ago was
not as easy as today
D. people had
easy access to conventional phones fifteen years ago
E. communication
was spreaded by word of mouth fifteen years ago
Cub Comes of Age: A Twice-Told Comic Tale
By BEN BRANTLEY
Published: November 14, 1997, Friday
Suddenly, you’re
4 years old again, and you’ve been taken to the circus for the first time. You
can only marvel at the exotic procession of animal before you: the giraffes and
the elephant and the hypotenuses and all those birds in balletic flight.
The way in which
Ms. Tyamor translates the film’s opening musical number, “Circle of life”,
where an animal kingdom of the African plain gathers to pay homage to its
leonine ruler and his newly born heir, is filled with astonishment and promise.
For one thing, it
is immediately clear that “The Lion King”, which opened last night, is not
going to follow the path pursued by Disney’s first Broadway venture, “Beauty
and the Beast.” Ms. Taymor, a maverick artist known for her bold multicultural
experiments with puppetry and ritualized theater, has her own distinctive vision;
one is that mile away from standard Disney fare.
If you have young
children, you probably know the plot. The lion cub Simba (Scott Irby-Ranniar),
the heir to the throne of his heroic father, Musafa (Samuel E Wright), become
the pawn of his father’s evil brother, Scar (John Vickery). When Scar murders
Musafa, he convince the vulnerable cub that it is he who is responsible for the
death. And Simba, in the tradition of young fairy tale heroes, goes to exile in
a forest, where he finally comes to terms with his inner self and is ready to
reclaim the throne.
The show a refreshing
and more sophisticated alternative to the standard panoply of special effects
that dominate most tourist-oriented shows today. Seen purely as a visual
tapestry, there is simply nothing else like it.
